Birth Matters: Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day to every mother and mom to be! We wish you all a wonderful weekend with your little ones, family and friends!

This week to celebrate women and their ability to give birth, I wanted to share some beautiful places to find birth stories. I consider reading birth stories to be one of my hobbies and as a doula they are an amazing source of education. Birth stories are powerful, for not only are they a wonderful exercise for mothers to remember and process their personal experiences, but they are also an invaluable resource for mothers-to-be. Reading a variety of birth stories, from water births at home to emergency c-sections, reiterates that birth is individualistic. Labor and delivery can happen in so many different ways, shapes and forms, but there is power in the decisions every expecting mother makes and power in allowing your birth to take its individual course.

*All of these links are meant to inform, create dialogue and provide a variety of perspectives. Birth occurs in many places, through many different paths and what is most important is that informed decisions are exercised, a birthing woman is supported and the experience is empowering.
